We congratulate to Pastor Duane Holst on his 50th Anniversary of Ordination on Aug. 15. Though Duane retired from the ministry in January 2023, after 46 years of ministry, he continues serve various roles at First Lutheran as a member including as a lector, communion assistant, and most recently as a part-time visitation pastor.
Pastor Duane graduated in 1971 from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Upon graduating from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa in 1975, Pastor Duane began his work in the Church. He served in Kansas and Nebraska. But times were lean and because the church could not pay him fully when called, Pastor Duane also drove school bus for a number of years while serving the church as pastor. In 2011, Pastor Duane was called to serve as a part-time pastor at First Lutheran in Lake City. He has found, “Serving God’s people
is a great way to spend one’s life.”
We will celebrate both Pastor Duane (50th in August) and Pastor Paul (20th in June) Ordination Anniversaries with cake after worship on August 16.
