Early Childhood
Children are welcome to attend our worship services! Busy Bags are available in the Fellowship area outside of the sanctuary and are stocked with books, coloring materials, small toys, and Legos as an option to take into worship.
A nursery is available during the worship services as well. The room is equipped with a sound system, so parents can continue to listen to the worship service.
Elementary
Rally Sunday – Sept 13, 2026
Our kick-off event for educational programming at First Lutheran
9:00 am – Worship (Bible distribution for First Year students & 3rd Graders)
After worship – Find your classroom and meet your teacher.
Sunday School
Sundays, 10-11am
To encourage our students in their faith we meet for an interactive opening before breaking into small groups for the day’s lesson.
Our Sunday School Ministry is open to students from ages 3 – Grade 6.

KFC (Kids for Christ)
Wednesdays, 3-5pm
Open to students: 2nd-6th Grade. $25 registration fee per child. Assistance is available.
Transportation is provided from Bluff View. Activities includes outdoor play, snack time, a Bible lesson, and choir with our Children’s Choir Director.

Family Events
We plan quarterly Family Events throughout the school year. Events in the past have included:
- Family Pumpkin Carving/Decorating
- Make a Family Advent Calendar
- Family Movie Viewing
- Sledding at Frontenac State Park
- Family Event at Hok-si-la
Confirmation
Our confirmation program for 7th-9th graders takes place on Wednesdays during the school year from 6 – 8pm. Our program challenges students to take the faith their parents taught them and mold it into their own. This program includes large and small group times, fellowship and service opportunities, retreats and other larger events.
High School Ministry
High School ministry is focused on summer trips and events, youth group get-togethers through the school year, and supporting high schoolers as they engage in more adult roles in the congregation, such as leading worship, singing in the choir, assisting with Sunday School, or serving on committees and teams.
Recent highlights include trips to ELCA Youth Gatherings in Houston and New Orleans and Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp in Colorado.
College
Confirmed members of First Lutheran Church may qualify for our ELCA scholarship. This scholarship is available to confirmed members of First Lutheran Church that plan to attend an ELCA affiliated college or university. The scholarship from First Lutheran will be matched by the ELCA college you attend and can be applied for up to 4 years. Colleges in the Midwest who are ELCA affiliated include:
